Many people have asked me: "How much time is needed to learn to play the piano?" and "Could it be done quickly?"
Well, my answer to that question is: When we start something new, we must know, - What we really want? - What do we expect from ourselves? We have to accept a totally new approach to playing the piano. We start with learning chords and scales using much shorter version of curriculum then it's used in schools. By learning simpler forms of accompaniment, commonly used in pop music, we rely mostly on playing "by ear". Also, the important thing is that we must insist on developing improvisatory skills from the very beginning, so the student starts to think freely from the start. This approach is obviously different from the traditional, but it is efficient, and proven way of producing future great piano interpreters of popular music genres. So, YES, you can quickly learn to play the piano, And, yes, it's not as easy as one may tell you. But, I suppose that you like it, and that is the prerequisite for inspiration :) When you have inspiration, you have it all ! Keep up the good work! So, I sat down and arranged jazz standard "Fly me to the moon" with walk bass in left hand and chords in right hand...
